I attended the inquest of my beautiful and beloved god daughter in February 2026. I could not let the events pass by without acknowledging my appreciation of the support and professionalism given by the staff - Penny and Peter. What was 2 truly horrific days was made more bearable by the compassion and consideration shown throughout, I’m most grateful.

To Coroner Devonish, thank you for capturing Lucy so beautifully in your closing statement, for allowing the family the voice she deserved, for remaining so profoundly professional when your integrity was questioned. Thank you for recognising the dignity demonstrated from the family- Jane in particular, who has amazed me in the strength and resilience she has found to get through this ordeal.

Words don’t seem enough to express the gratitude we have, as a family. You gave a small glimmer of light in what has been a very dark time.

As a former international corporate troubleshooter and head-hunter, it’s extremely rare for me not to find fault, however, this is one of those rare occasions. The staff and support volunteers are a credit to this court, they have a natural ability to make you feel as comfortable as possible during a very stressful time.

As for the Coroner, well, that is sadly down to the luck of the draw, for me, I appear to have been very lucky, and again, I would say a credit to the profession and this particular court. As for the lawyers, well, their lawyers, a rare breed of people, but 2 out of 3 is not bad.
